Human chain demands exemplary punishment

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) forces detained the main accused of a Madrasha student rape case in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj district from Jiakandi area of ​​Cumilla district on Wednesday.

The arrested was identified as Naeem Hossain, son of Rahmat Ali of Char Kamarkhand village in the same upazila.

RAB-12 Deputy Commander Major Md. Ahsan Habib provided the information at a press conference organized at the RAB-12 headquarters on Thursday morning.

The RAB officer said that, a madrasa student was raped in a restaurant in front of the Jamtail Central Park in Kamarkhand Upazila of the district on October 19, that grows much talk.

Naeem Hossain, also the main accused of the case went hiding just after the incident.

RAB traced his location with the blessing of modern technologies and then RAB-12 team in collaboration with RAB-11 detained him from the mentioned place in Cumilla. The detainee was handed over to the concerned thana police for next legal action.

On the other hand, agitating people of Kamarkhanda upazila with the initiative of local BNP formed a human chain in front of its upazila party office on Thursday demanding exemplary punishment to rapists.

Sirajganj District BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, former Upazila BNP President Badiuzzaman Ferdous, General Secretary Rezate Rabbi Uthan, District BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Anwar Hossain Rajesh, Sirajganj District Jubo Dal President Al Amin, Kamarkhand Upazila Jubo Dal Convener MA Alim Mandal, Member Secretary Hasnate Rabbi Sumon, Volunteer Dal Convener Shambhu Nath Das, Member Secretary Sheikh Sohel Ahmed, Chhatra Dal Convener Mahmudul Hasan, Member Secretary Tanvir Islam, College Chhatra Dal Leader Shamim Sarkar, among others, were present at the human chain.

It is worth noting that, a class VII student of a Madrasha was picked up from the road with an auto-rickshaw and taken inside the “Dera Fast Food and Chinese Restaurant” adjacent to Jamtail Central Park in the upazila on Sunday last (October 19). Then, Naeem raped her repeatedly. Five friends of the Jamtail area named Imran, 21, Akash, 21, Atiq, 23, Nasim Uddin, 20, Nazmul Haque Nayan, 20, assisted him in this crime.

At that time, the other accused played music loudly on the sound box to prevent the girl’s screams from going outside. When the girl lost consciousness due to the brutal torture, the accused left her at a local hospital and fled.

Later, when her family came to know about the matter, they admitted her to Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital at night.
