Sports Desk:
Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad will join fellow countryman Shakib Al Hasan in representing Atlanta Fire at the upcoming Atlanta Open T20 tournament.
Describing him as a ‘star’, the organisers announced Mahmudullah’s participation, stating: “Star power unlocked!
Mahmudullah Riyad is set to feature in the Atlanta Open T20 Tournament with Atlanta Fire!”
The tournament is scheduled to take place from 7 to 12 October at the Paramvir Cricket Complex in Rydal, USA. Six teams are expected to compete in this notable franchise-style domestic event.
Mahmudullah recently retired from international cricket, stepping away from One-Day Internationals after the Champions Trophy earlier this year. He had previously retired from Test cricket in 2021 and T20 Internationals in 2023, bringing his international career to a close. In 141 T20 internationals, he scored 2,444 runs at an average of 23.50 and took 41 wickets. He also has experience in overseas franchise leagues, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Shakib, who is currently active in the CPL, is also scheduled to play in the United States minor league for Atlanta Fire. With both players on the same team, Bangladesh fans will get to see two of their stars compete together in the tournament.
