Mahmudur Rahman, publisher and editor of the national daily Amar Desh, on Friday said that Daily Amar Desh newspaper will be back in the market by December. All the preparations for bringing out the newspaper will be completed within two and a half months.

“No matter how much trouble we face, if Allah wills, I will hand over this newspaper to you by December,” he told reporters at a press conference at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall in the Jatiya Press Club on Friday (October 18).

Mahmudur Rahman said that there are a little less than two and a half months left. We will finish all the work in the meantime. For the time being, the printing of the newspaper from another press has been finalized.

Seeking the government’s help in relaunching the newspaper, he said, “I am requesting to the government, they will cooperate so as not to face any legal hurdles in launching this newspaper.”

Mahmudur Rahman also said that Amar Desh is “not the spokesperson of any party”. It is a public newspaper. The country needs a strong media, which will not stand for corporate or party interests.

“We will only fight for people’s rights and speak for the people. Amar Desh will be that media,” he added.
