An accused named Md. Juwel aged 26, committed suicide in the police custody of Chandgaon police station in Chattogram.

The incident happened at 6:25 am on Wednesday.

Accused Juwel was the son of late Abdul Malek of Chandgaon Khejurtola area, according to police record.

Officer-In-Charge (OC) of the Chandgaon police station confirming the matter said warranted accused Juwel was arrested and kept under police custody.

According to CCTV footage, the accused around 6:25 am took off his shirt and hanged him to the ventilation on the inner wall of the police station cell, OC said.

There are a total of 7 cases (robbery preparation and Arms Act) against him under Kotowali police station, he added.
