A court in Sirajganj on Thursday sentenced a man to life term in a rape case.

The court also fined him Tk 1 lakh, in defalut, he will have to suffer two more months in Jail.

The convict is Abu Kasir Hasan Hira, son of Abdus Sattar of Mozaffarpur (Mozupur) in Raiganj upazila.

Begum Salma Khatun, Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Court in Sirajganj delivered the verdict in presence of the accused.

The case report states that, the victim was class-X student of a school under Solongga police station. In 2016, the convict Hira developed a love affair with her after being introduced through mobile phone.

On February 11, 2018, Hira, with the help of accused Noor Nabi, took her to Momo Inn Park in Bogra. There, he raped her in a room under the pretext of marriage and recorded a video.

Later, the girl was also raped several more times so that the girl became pregnant. But, Hira refused to marry him. On June 16, 2019, the girl filed a case with Solongga police station accusing Abu Kasir Hasan Hira and Noor Nabi.

The investigation officer (IO) submitted charge sheet against them. But, another accused was acquitted by the court as the allegation brought against him was not proved.
