Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12) arrested a drug dealer with 16 kg of hemp during an anti-drug operation in Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The arrest was made on the Dhaka-Bogra highway in front of the Western Gas Company Limited head office near Nalqa Bridge under Jamuna Bridge West Thana in the district.

The arrested are Md Morshed Alam, 40, a resident of Takui (Rahmatpur) village under Brahmanpara thana in Cumilla district.

RAB-12, Sirajganj Company Commander Dipankar Ghosh confirmed the matter through a press release on Monday afternoon.

Additionally, TK 1,600 in cash was seized from the individual.

A case has been filed against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act of 2018 at Jamuna Bridge West Thana, the Commander added.
