A road accident on Thursday morning claimed the life of a motorcyclist and injured his wife and two children in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila.

The accident occurred around 10:30 AM at Dashuria Kalikapur under the upazila on the Ishwardi-Pabna highway.

The dead has been identified as Belal Hossain, 45, a resident of Mathalpara in Varimari under the same upazila.

According to locals, Belal was traveling on a motorcycle with his wife Rupali Khatun, daughter Bushra, and son Tanzil from Dashuria toward Pabna town. On the way, a pick-up van, reportedly speeding from the opposite direction, collided head-on with their motorcycle in that area. Belal died on the spot, while his wife and two children were seriously injured.

Locals rushed the injured to Pabna General Hospital for treatment.

Confirming the news, Officer-in-Charge of Pakshi Highway Police Station, Moshfiqul Rahman, said the body has been recovered and legal procedures are underway. The driver of the pick-up van and the vehicle has been detained by locals and handed over to police.
