Former member of the National Board of Revenue, Matiur Rahman’s whereabouts are not yet known. The law enforcement forces are not giving any official statement about Matiur Rahman’s whereabouts now. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also has no specific information about him. However, ACC learned that Matiur and his family members are trying to leave the country.

In such a situation, a Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on revenue officer Md Motiur Rahman, his first wife Laila Kaniz, and their son Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman (Arnab). Dhaka Metropolitan Court’s senior special judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order today, Monday, following a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Although the government office was open last Wednesday and Thursday after the Eid holiday, Md. Matiur did not present his NBR office. However, it is reported that he joined the Internal Resources Division (IRD) on Monday. But as he was sick he joined by letter through carrier. He did not work yesterday due to illness.

News has been published in some media Matiur and his family members left the country. However, no official statement has been received from the ACC or the police regarding its authenticity.

Matiur’s first wife Laila Kaniz is the current chairman of Raipura Upazila Parishad of Narsingdi. She has not been seen in public since Eid al-Adha. She is not going to Upazila Parishad.

The ACC is investigating the allegations against this former member of NBR, including the acquisition of illegal wealth at home and abroad through corruption and the laundering of large sums of money abroad. So far 65 bighas (2 thousand 145 percent) of land, 8 flats, 2 resorts and picnic spots, and 2 industrial establishments have been found in the name of this official and his relatives.

The allegations against him surfaced after a video of Matiur’s son, Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, buying a goat for Tk 15 lakh went viral before Eid-ul-Adha.

This recent scandal has brought significant attention to Matiur’s family’s lavish lifestyle and raised questions about his suitability for directorship at Sonali Bank.
