Md Abdul Mannan made chairman of First Security Islami Bank board

Md Abdul Mannan has been appointed as the chairman of the newly formed board of directors of First Security Islami Bank.

On being appointed, Abdul Mannan expressed his wishes that although there were some unexpected events, First Security Islami Bank would soon overcome the crisis and transform into a strong and customer-friendly bank. He said that in Islamic banking system the bank and the customer are mutual partners. Based on this relationship, the bank will grow into one of the Shariah banks in the country, according to a press release.

Abdul Mannan obtained his master of social sciences from University of Dhaka. He had served as the managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh for a long time. He received the Asian Banker CEO Leadership Achievement Award-2016, the top bank CEO award in the Asia Pacific and Mediterranean region. He also won Sarder Patel Award 2016, Islamic Banking Award 2013 and Remittance Ambassador of Bangladesh Award 2012.

He took part in a number of international conferences and seminars including the International Conference of IDB Group (2010, 2011, 2012, 2016), Asian Development Bank conference in 2013 and Islamic Financial Services Board 2013.

He also participated in different CEO-leadership development programmes hosted at INSEAD Business School of France, UC Berkley of the US, Columbia University of the US, University of Oxford of the UK and Cambridge Judge Business School of the UK.
