Sports Desk:
Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba of Inter Miami will miss Wednesday night’s MLS All-Star Game against Liga MX at Q2 Stadium in Austin.
An MLS spokesperson confirmed that Inter Miami informed league officials of the players’ absence. Both could face a one-match suspension if they fail to provide a credible injury report. The league will consult Inter Miami before making a final decision on potential suspensions.
Messi, who also skipped last year’s All-Star Game due to injury, is currently tied with Nashville’s Sam Surridge for the MLS scoring lead with 18 goals. The Argentine star has netted two goals in six of his last seven appearances.
