Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the operator of Metro Rail, has announced that passengers will be permitted to carry up to 250 milliliters of water on platforms and trains for iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to a notice signed by Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of MRT Line-6 on February 27, each passenger will be allowed to carry only a 250ml bottle of water for iftar while using the metro stations and trains.
Passengers must ensure that no water is spilled and are required to dispose of used bottles in designated bins at platforms, concourses, and entry or exit gates.
The notice also strictly prohibits consuming any other food items inside metro trains, platforms, or concourse areas. The metro schedule on Saturdays, Fridays, and public holidays will remain unchanged.
As per the Ramadan schedule, the first metro train will depart from Uttara North Station at 7:10 AM, with the last train leaving at 9:00 PM. From Motijheel, the first train will depart at 7:30 AM, and the last train will leave at 9:40 PM. This schedule will remain in effect throughout Ramadan until the day before Eid-ul-Fitr.
