At least six persons were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a micro-bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sirajganj-Nalka regional road nearby ACI food factory under Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rashedul Islam, 22, son of Amzad Hossain of Brahmanboyra Hatpangashi village in Raiganj Upazila, Nuruzzaman Ali, 52, and Tareq Rahman, 55, both the son of late Ramzan Ali, Rezaul Karim, 65, and Abdul Mazid, 55, both the son of Nur Box and Jahangir Alam, 58, all hailed from Bhatra village in Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj district.
The accident took place at around 12:15pm, as a Sirajganj-bound microbus, coming from Nalka collided head-on with a Nalka-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the said area, leaving three persons dead on the spot and four persons injured. Of the injured, two succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital, while another person succumbed to his injury at the hospital bed during his treatment, Rezaul Karim, Officer-in-Charge of Kamarkhanda Police Station told TDS.
On information, police reached to the spot and recovered the bodies. The bodies were sent to Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy and the injured is now undergoing treatment at the same Hospital. A case was lodged with the respective polices station in this connection, the OC added.
