A 7-year-old girl was found dead in a pond on Tuesday noon after being reported missing for few hours in Meghai Cluster village of Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj district.

The deceased was Mariya Khatun, daughter of Abdul Maleque of Meghai Cluster-village in the upazila.

Quoting victim’s family members, police said, the victim went missing, when she went out of home for playing with her friends. After a search, her family members found her floating body in a pond nearby a sand point.

On information, police recovered the body and took necessary steps according to the legal process, said Nur a Alam, Officer in Charge of Kazipur police station.
