The final match of the month-long Mirza Muraduzzaman Memorial Football Tournament was held at the Aliya Madrasha ground in Sirajganj town on Friday night at 9:00pm on the occasion of 30th death anniversary of the late Mirza Muraduzzaman.
The tournament was organized by the Dattabari Youth Society in the town, where ‘Brazil’ versus ‘Croatia’ team faced each other during the exciting final match.
In a very exciting match, the ‘Croatia’ team won the championship by 1-2 goals through a tiebreaker as the goal difference was not created in the stipulated time.
The event created a lot of excitement among football fans. A total of 16 teams participated in the entire tournament, with eight players in each team.
Sirajganj District BNP Vice-President and Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur) constituency probable MP aspirant Md. Nazmul Hasan Talukder Rana was present as chief guest at the event and delivered a speech.
Dr. M. A. Latif, the Vice-President of Sirajganj District BNP and President of DAB attended there as special guest.
The programme was presided over by Sirajganj District BNP Climate and Environment Affairs Secretary Md. Wahiduzzaman Minu, while General Secretary candidate and Sirajganj District BNP Organizing Secretary Mirza Mostofa Zaman, eminent ophthalmologist Dr. Nazmul Haque, District BNP Joint General Secretary Md. Milon Islam Khan, Student Affairs Secretary Khorshed Alam Mintu, eminent industrialist and social worker Md. Moazzemul Haque Ripon, District BNP Assistant Publicity Secretary Md. Jinnah Sardar, Member Secretary of the Late Mirza Muraduzzaman Memorial Sangsad Md. Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar Fakir, General Secretary of Sirajganj Press Club Shariful Islam Inna and Sirajganj District Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Zubair Al Islam Sejan among others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said that Mirza Muraduzzaman was a former National Parliament Member of Sirajganj Sadar-2 constituency, a founding member of the Central National Executive Committee and the founding President of Sirajganj District BNP. He was a close colleague of the oppressed people’s leader Maulana Bhashani and a symbol of public sympathy. He used politics to change the society, especially to keep the young generation away from drugs and terrorism and corruption and involved the youth through positive activities like sports.
Mirza Mostofa Zaman provided financial support to organize the programme.
