Facebook, Messenger, and Telegram outages have been brought up again by mobile internet users in Bangladesh.

Sources said that an agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs sent text messages to mobile operators instructing them to enact a new ban.

The decision comes at the same time as a nationwide prayer event for students and a march on Friday to protest killings and arrests of students during the quota reform movement.

Earlier, on 31 July, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube were unblocked by the government as the authorities relaxed a curfew and extended daytime breaks.

Additionally, Telegram, a messaging platform that lets users send large files, has been blocked for the first time.

Some people claimed that they could use these apps until noon today before losing access.
