Sushanta Chowdhury, the Transport and Tourism Minister of India’s Tripura state, emphasised that no matter which government comes and goes in Bangladesh, efforts are being made to maintain strong bilateral and diplomatic ties between India and its neighboring country.
Speaking at a press briefing in Agartala on Thursday evening, Chowdhury stated, “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to this cause, and I hope that Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will also work towards the same goal.”
Chowdhury further mentioned that the Indian government is keen to establish direct flights between Agartala and Chattogram, despite the current uncertainties in Bangladesh.
“We strongly believe that our relations with Bangladesh will continue to improve. While it’s too early to make definitive statements, we are making advance preparations and hope that the Agartala-Chattogram flights will commence soon,” he added.
The press briefing was attended by local journalists and government officials.
