Three people including a woman and her daughter were killed and two others injured as a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Mymensingh-Tangail highway at Cherumondol area in Muktagacha upazila around 2pm.

The deceased were identified as Hasina Khatun, 35, wife of Mawlana Nazrul Islam of Binodbari Manpur village, her daughter Adiba, 3, and Mrinal Chandra Das, 42, of Dawgaon union in the upazila.

Md Faruk Ahmed, Officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Sushanta Kumar Dey, Muktagacha Fire Service Station officer, said a Tangail-bound truck hit an auto-rickshaw and overturned at Cherumondol area, leaving three people dead on the spot and two others injured. The injured were rescued and sent to a hospital. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to police.

The OC also said the truck driver managed to flee the scene after the accident. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
