The shooting of the government-funded film ‘Bonolata Sen’ began several years ago. Although the production was completed quietly, the film’s release was delayed due to unavoidable circumstances.

After years of anticipation, the wait is finally nearing an end, as the makers are now preparing to release the film on Eid-ul-Fitr in the coming year.

Actress Masuma Rahman Nabila plays the title role in the film, which is inspired by the timeless fictional female character created by celebrated poet Jibanananda Das.

Notably, Nabila was initially offered a different role in the project. However, she declined the offer and clearly expressed her wish to portray Bonolata Sen. Convinced by her determination and suitability for the character, the director ultimately entrusted her with the central role.

Despite taking a relatively long time to complete, the film’s director, Masud Hasan Ujjal, remained uncompromising when it came to quality.

Reflecting on the process, he said, “Working with the legacy of Jibanananda Das comes with a great sense of responsibility. Research, preparation, and selecting the right actors made the entire journey quite challenging.”

Actor Khairul Basar appears in the role of poet Jibanananda Das, while the cast includes Sohel Mondal, Naziba Bashar, Priyanti Urbi, Ruponti Akid, Sharif Siraj, and Sumaiya Khushi.

Meanwhile, several films such as “Prince”, “Doom”, “Rakkhosh”, “Bonolata Express”, and “Pinik” are also expected to hit theatres on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In such a competitive festive lineup, film lovers are now eager to see how “Bonolata Sen” manages to capture the audience’s hearts.
