In the busy streets of Naogaon, a remarkable market has emerged that is breaking norms and bringing fresh opportunities to the community.

Situated in the Sahanabag City area on Taltoli road, this unique producer’s market operates every day from 6am to 9am and is proudly dominated by women entrepreneurs.

These women are not only transforming their own lives but also reshaping the local economy, one fresh vegetable at a time.

From vibrant winter vegetables to fresh fish, meat, and daily essentials, this market is a one-stop shop for locals seeking quality products at affordable prices.

What makes it even more special is that most of the vendors are women, who, through their hard work and dedication, have gained financial independence and are able to support their families.

“I had no work before, and it was tough to make ends meet,” says Mala Banu, a vegetable seller who started her business at the market just recently. “Now, I’m not only supporting my family but also making a profit. It feels good to be financially independent.”

Similarly, Mohammad Mithu, another vendor who sells fresh produce, shares his journey, saying: “I used to drive an auto-rickshaw, but when this market opened, I seized the opportunity to start fresh. Business is good, and I’m earning much better than before.”

The market is more than just a place to buy goods—it’s a lifeline for many in the community.

Shahadat Hossain, who now runs a food stall selling khichuri says: “I was without work for a long time after my rice mill business collapsed. But this market has given me a new chance to thrive, and it’s not just me—the entire community benefits from it.”

The convenience of the market is equally appreciated by the locals.

Shahin, a regular customer from Latapara area, says: “I can get fresh produce from the fields nearby, and it’s become a part of my morning routine. I even get to take a walk while I shop.”

For others like Anisur Rahman, who lives in the Rajji area, the market provides affordability. “The prices are lower here compared to regular markets, and that makes it easier for us to shop. It’s a win-win,” he said.

Lokman Hossain, a resident of the Naogaon Polytechnic Institute area, said: “Before, I had to spend Tk20 on a rickshaw fare to go to the market. Now, I save that money and find everything I need here. It has made a big difference for everyone in the neighborhood.”

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, an entrepreneur and key player in the market’s success, said: “With a population of around 50,000 to 60,000 people, this area had no nearby markets. People had to travel far to buy goods. Now, local traders bring their products here, benefiting both them and farmers in the surrounding rural areas.”

This vibrant market is not just a place of commerce—it’s a beacon of empowerment, where women entrepreneurs lead the way, transforming their lives and contributing to the growth of their community.
