Nation to observe 1-minute blackout on March 25 night

A one-minute blackout, from 11:00 pm to 11:01 pm, will be observed across the country on Monday night to mark Genocide Day.

However, KPIs and emergency installations will remain exempt from the program. Last year this program was held from 9 pm to 9.01 minutes.

This was said in a press release of the Ministry of Liberation War on Saturday morning.

It is said that next Monday, March 25, various programs have been taken at the national level to observe Genocide Day. The President and the Prime Minister will deliver a speech on the occasion.

Besides, a discussion meeting on Genocide Day has been organized on March 25 at the Liberation War Museum at 10:30 am. Genocide and liberation war-related ballads and cultural programs will be organized across the country. Apart from this, all educational institutions including schools, colleges and madrassas will hold a commemoration and discussion meeting on March 25 in the voice of eminent persons and brave freedom fighters. Rare photographs and documentaries on the genocide will be circulated in the minipolls of all city corporations including Dhaka.

Special prayers will be offered in all mosques and other places of worship on this day except at Zhar or at convenient times to seek forgiveness for the souls of those killed on the night of March 25, 1971. Ministry of Liberation War Affairs said that the same program will be held at the district and upazila level and Bangladesh embassies located abroad highlighting the significance of the day.
