Nazifa Tushi has always worked sparingly. In her ten-year career, her number of projects remains limited. After ‘Ice Cream’, she returned to the screen with ‘Hawa’ following a long break. It has now been three years since the release of Hawa and no new film of hers has been released.

Recently, reports surfaced that she will appear opposite Shakib Khan in one film and Siam Ahmed in another. Tushi, however, says no final decision has been made.

She has been linked to Abu Hayat Mahmud’s ‘Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka’, starring opposite Shakib, and Raihan Rafi’s ‘Andhar’, starring opposite Siam. Tushi said, “I have been approached for the films, but I have not taken any decision yet. I don’t want to reveal too much until everything is finalised. It’s best to ask the directors of these films.”

While remaining tight-lipped about the new projects, she has already completed work on Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s ‘Roid’. Shooting for N Rashed Chowdhury’s ‘Shokhi Rongomala’ is nearly finished, and she is also working on a web series with ‘Rehana Mariam Noor’ director Abdullah Mohammad Saad.

Roid has received a government grant of Tk 60 lakh in the 2020-21 financial year, with Jaya Ahsan initially named as the producer. After Jaya returned the funds, Bengal Creations stepped in as the new producer. Much of the film was shot in Srimangal, with Mostafizur Noor Imran starring opposite Tushi.

In Sakhi Rangamala, Tushi plays the titular of Rongomala, a woman from a zamindar family in 18th-century Noakhali. Reflecting on the role, she previously remarked, “Working on a story set almost 200 years ago stirred something inside me. I felt I must play this character. The story revolves around a zamindar family from Noakhali and as I am from Noakhali myself, that created a spiritual connection. It is a matter of great joy and pride to embody such a profound character. Overall, I am enjoying the experience immensely.”

Tushi first came to prominence in 2014 as the first runner-up in the Lux Channel i Superstar competition. She went on to act in Redwan Rony’s ‘Ice Cream, alongside Shariful Raj and Kumar Uday.

Her credits also include the web film ‘Networker Baire’ and the web series ‘Syndicate’. In addition, she has hosted the television programme ‘Rangin Pata’ on NTV.
