He made this comment during a press conference held at the central office of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee in Banglamotor on Friday.
He added: “We have talked about the Constituent Assembly and national elections. But it is not just about the election; we want to see visible judicial actions first. We want to see the implementation of the July uprising declaration in the shortest possible time.”
At the start of the conference, Nahid Islam said: “The first meeting of the National Citizen Party has been held. In recent times, incidents of violence against women in various parts of the country have occurred, and at today’s (Friday) meeting, the National Citizen Party has expressed concern and condemnation over these incidents.
“We call on the interim government to ensure the safety of women in public spaces. The government must take strict measures so that perpetrators of violence against women are brought to justice,” he added.
He further emphasized the importance of ensuring security and stability before the election, saying: “The current police administration lacks experience in holding free and fair elections. Their capability has not been tested for a long time. The law and order situation needs to be improved before the elections.”
Also speaking at the press conference was Akhtar Hossain, the secretary general of the National Citizen Party.
He announced that an iftar party will be organized at Suhrawardy Udyan on Monday with all stakeholders involved in the July and August events. People from across the country will be invited.
On the following day, Tuesday, an iftar party will be held with political parties, civil society, and prominent individuals from various sectors, he added.
