BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee on Tuesday said that a fair and neutral election is essential for ensuring political stability, fostering social harmony, and achieving economic discipline in Bangladesh.

He said that building a better future for the country requires reforms and a government that truly represents the people. “We are looking forward to a fair and neutral election,” he said.

Anee made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Late Arafat Rahman Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by the Lakshmipur College Road Sports Club, as the chief guest.

He further said that the BNP is not a fundamentalist party. “Shaheed president Ziaur Rahman is the architect of modern Bangladesh. The BNP is a moderate organization of this era,” he said.

Anee said that after August 5, the country has witnessed significant political change, and the people now desire qualitative changes in leadership.

He added: “If a moderate party like the BNP cannot deliver this, no one else can. Tarique Rahman’s return has become a popular demand. People increasingly listen to his speeches and trust his words and actions. As a statesman, Tarique Rahman has no alternative within or outside the BNP. He is a duplicate of Ziaur Rahman, walking the same path that Ziaur Rahman once did.”
