A newborn girl, who was left at a footpath in Ullapara of Sirajganj district as an abandoned condition was rescued on Monday night.
At that time, neither the mother nor the father of the newborn could be found. Currently, the newborn is under the supervision of the administration.
Based on information from locals, Social Service Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam and Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Nilufa Yasmin reached to the spot and rescued the child at around 2:00 am on Monday (October 6). Later, the newborn was admitted to Ullapara Care Hospital.
Currently, there is a lot of interest among the locals around the newborn. This baby has become the focus of discussions in the area.
Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam said that, a meeting will be held with the members of the Child Welfare Board. Those who want to adopt can apply. After that, the application will be verified and the child will be handed over to a suitable family. If a suitable family is not found in Sirajganj, arrangements will be made to send the child to Baby Home Care in Rajshahi.
Ullapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat said, “We will hold a meeting on the matter and take necessary measures.”
