Decomposed body of a newborn baby, wrapped with a polythene bag was recovered from a field nearby Jamtoil Railway Station in Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj district on Wednesday morning.

Abdul Latif, Officer in Charge of Kamarkhanda police station said, locals found the body wrapped in a polythene bag and informed the matter to police. Later, a team of Kamarkhanda thana police reached to the spot and recovered the body. Later, it was sent to Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College Morgue for autopsy.

“It is suspected that, the immature baby age seven to eight months might have been the product of someone’s immoral relationship. The matter will be investigated and local hospitals and clinics will be brought under scanner soon,” the OC said.

An unnatural death case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
