Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sirajganj Md. Aminul Islam said, “Journalists are the mirror of society. It is difficult to verify how far a district or upazila is moving forward without the cooperation of journalists. Many things do not come to our attention, but it is possible to come to our notice through the writing of journalists.”
He came up with these remarks, while addressing a view exchange meeting with journalists working in the district at Shahid A. K. Shamsuddin Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday (November 24) afternoon.
During the view exchange, the Deputy Commissioner vows to hold a free, fair and transparent election this time. For this reason, he seeks suggestion how the upcoming national polls can be organized in an exemplary manner and what they can do now in this regard.
He also urged the working journalists to verify various information during the elections. All the information you will provide during the election to be verified and sorted. Because of many people may have given wrong information. Their plan is to keep the administration busy with wrong information and they will create problems elsewhere.
Replying to a query, the Deputy Commissioner said, August 5 has never come before any election. It came before this election. There has been a change in thinking after August 5. So, although the words reciting this time are similar to the previous words, the activities will be different.
Inspections of the polling stations in the district have already started. Especially, I have visited some centers in Kamarkhanda Upazila. The communication system of some centers in the district is very poor, there is no electricity connection and no mobile network. Work is underway to solve these problems, he said.
The DC Aminul Islam assured that, regular operations against drugs will continue in the district. It will start from Tuesday, the schedule has been made for this. Discussions will be held on making the Baghabari port more operational. We have taken a decision on traffic congestion. Arrangements will be made to set up a CNG stand at a specific place. Illegal structures on the sidewalks and roads will be demolished very soon.
