NGOs seek recognition for their contributions to the nation’s development, he says

TDS Desk:

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) face corruption from district administrations and law enforcement agencies when engaging in development work, according to Debapriya Bhattacharya, head of the White Paper Committee for the interim government and distinguished fellow at the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

He stated that NGOs seek recognition for their contributions to the nation’s development.

Bhattacharya made these remarks on Monday following a meeting with representatives of private development organizations at the NEC conference hall, where 78 representatives participated.

Reflecting on the opinions of the NGO representatives, Bhattacharya emphasised the need to acknowledge their role in national development. He highlighted their concerns over obstacles such as corruption within government institutions, lack of cooperation from authorities, and the unresponsiveness of foreign embassies.

These issues, along with policy recommendations, will be included in the upcoming White Paper.

Additionally, Bhattacharya noted that NGOs believe hostile propaganda against women and various communities hinders development, and such concerns will be addressed in the White Paper.
