Staff Correspondent:
There will be no change in the name of the Mongol Shobhajatra, and this year’s Pohela Boishakh will be celebrated over two days.
The decision was made during a meeting held at Dhaka University’s Senate Hall on Monday morning, focusing on the arrangements for both Pohela Boishakh and the Mongol Shobhajatra celebrations.
After the meeting, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki briefed journalists, announcing the theme for this year’s New Year celebration: “Unity of the new year, end of fascism.”
The two-day celebration will include Pohela Boishakh as well as the Chaitra Sankranti festival.
However, the adviser confirmed that no discussion had taken place during the meeting regarding changing the name of the Mongol Shobhajatra.
