No first, second doses of Covid vaccine after Oct 3: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said the first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccine will not be available after October 3 this year.

He said at a workshop on Covid-19 vaccine campaign for children aged 5-11 at Hotel Radisson in the capital at 12pm on Saturday.

The minister said a lot of vaccines have expired. Those who didn’t receive first and second doses yet will not get the vaccine after 3 October.

He said everyone should get vaccinated quickly. A special campaign will start on September 28 and will continue till October 3.

A total of 33 lakh people have not taken their first doses and 94 lakh are yet to take their second doses, he also said.

The minister added that the vaccination program for children aged 5-11 will start at the district and upazila level from October 11.
