No plan of the government will be effective by keeping the political parties and the people in the dark, BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman said on Sunday (May 25).

“There may not be a crisis of moral and political legitimacy of the interim government. However, this government is not accountable to the people. Since the government is not accountable, it is necessary for the government to have specific plans clear to the people for moral reasons.

“In the end, no plan will be effective and sustainable by keeping the people in the dark and the political parties in uncertainty,” he said while virtually addressing an event organised on the occasion of the National People’s Party’s founding anniversary in Dhaka.

“The goal of every political party for democracy should be to prevent the return of the defeated, fallen fascism. Necessary reforms are needed to block the path of fascism, to change the state, government and politics. There is no alternative to constitutional or legal reforms and practical reforms in the needs of the time,” Tarique said at the event.

“There is no such thing as too little or too much reform. Reform in the needs of the state and politics is an ongoing process, a continuous process. However, I think practical reforms are more important than textbook reforms,” he added.
