No reason to fear, our borders are completely safe: Home affairs adviser

Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said there is no reason to fear, our borders are completely safe.

“There is no problem here. Farmers will be able to harvest paddy well, he also said while responding to questions from journalists after inaugurating the Boro Bri Paddy-88 harvest in Dhelpir block of Mokleshpur union of Biral upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The agriculture advisor said, “40 percent of the country’s people depend on agriculture. When we had seven crore people; at that time, the number of agricultural land was more. But now the population is 180 million, as a result, agricultural land has been decreased.”

“Due to improved varieties and the hard work of farmers and scientists, the production of paddy is good,” he added.

Regarding agricultural land, he said, “A new law will be enacted. There is a plan to make a new land use policy, agricultural land protection law, it will be done within a few days.”

Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Executive Director (Additional Secretary) of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority Tariqul Islam, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Majid Ali and officials from 8 districts of Rangpur Division were present on the occasion.
