The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has said that there is no secrecy surrounding the visit of its Director General Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddique to India.

Following the publication of reports in some media outlets with headlines like “Secrecy Surrounding BGB Chief’s India Visit Sparks Criticism on Social Media,” the BGB clarified that such news tarnishes the image of the border-guarding force and creates confusion among the public.

The post mentioned that on December 27, the BGB’s verified Facebook page announced that a border conference between the Director Generals of BGB and BSF would take place in mid-February in India.

Based on this Facebook post, media outlets in the country also published reports.

Furthermore, the issue of the conference was highlighted in multiple press briefings by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The BGB added that such negative posts, particularly at a time when the force is actively working with the public along the border, could cause unnecessary confusion.

The BGB confirmed that the BGB-BSF Director General-level border conference will be held from February 17 to 21 in New Delhi, India.

Representatives from other relevant ministries and agencies of Bangladesh will also attend the meeting alongside the BGB.

The BGB reiterated that there is no secrecy in this matter, nor has the force made any effort to keep it secret.

The BGB has urged everyone to refrain from making or being influenced by misleading posts about the matter.
