Ishtiaq Waresh Turjo, a finance student at North South University (NSU), passed away. Ishtiaq’s relatives believe that he died of “heatstroke” due to an intense heatwave.
“Ishtiaq Waresh Turjo breathed his last on Tuesday (April 23) at around 9 pm,” informed Asif bin Ali, a lecturer of the journalism department at North South University and deputy director of the public relations office, to the media.
“Our beloved student Ishtiaq Waresh Turjo lived in the Bashundhara residential area. He fell ill on Tuesday around 9 pm and was taken to the hospital. The doctor declared him dead there. His family and relatives believe that he died of heatstroke. We are deeply saddened by his death,” he also said.
Ishtiaq Waresh Turjo was a final year student of the 202nd batch of the Finance Department at the NSU. His village home is in Kazipur of Sirajganj.
Turjo’s father, Wahiduzzaman Minu, is an assistant professor at Afzal Hossain Memorial Degree College. Turjo was his only child.
Meanwhile, after Turjo’s death in Dhaka on Tuesday night, his body was taken to his home district Sirajganj on Wednesday (April 24) morning. His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Aliya Madrasa ground after Zuhr prayers in Sirajganj.
North South University has been conducting online classes since April 21 due to a severe heatwave. The online classes at the university will continue till April 27.
The university informed that this decision has been taken for the health and safety of the students due to the ongoing heatwave in the country. All the students of the university including Turjo were at home and taking online classes.
