The detective Branch (DB) police in a raid on Jhenaidah-Magura highway detained a drug peddler along with 3,000 pieces of Yaba pills from a passenger bus near Bond Brick Kiln in Lakkhipur of  Jhenaidah sadar upazila on Tuesday noon.

The arrested was identified as Abdur Rahim, 19, son of Ashraf Hossain of Pouch Krishnapur in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district. He currently, resides in Chattogram city.

Officer in charge (OC) of Jhenaidah DB police said, according to the instruction of Police Super Mohammad Manjur Morshed, DB police have been conducting drives against drug addicted and peddlers throughout the district for the last few months. As a part of this drives,

As a part pof the drive, DB police set up a makeshift check-post on the Jhenaidah-Magura highway near the Bond Brick Kiln in Lakkhipur upazila at noon. During the drive, the police personnel intercepted a Faridpur bound passenger bus of Mukta Paribahan and carried out a search. At that time, they arrested Abdur Rahim along with the said amount of Yaba tablets.

Additional police super Imran Zakaria said, drive against drug will be continued to make the district free from drugs. A case was lodged in this connection.
