Sirajul Islam Shishir:
A man was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers’ over occupying government land in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila on Sunday morning.
The incident took place at Dhunail village in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Modin Molla, son of Chakin Molla, a resident of the same village in the upazila.
According to locals, there had been a long standing dispute between Musa and Halim over occupying a piece of Khas land.
On Saturday, the two groups swooped on each other with lethal weapons, leaving 20 people of the both group injured.
Following Saturday’s clash, the two groups of the villagers engaged in clash again and attacked each other leaving Modin, loyal to Musa, died on the spot and 25 others injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to hospital for treatment.
Being informed, a team of police, led by Shajadpur circle additional superintended of police M Kamruzzaman, rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Shahjadpur Police Station officer-in-charge Aslam Ali.
Police later recovered Modin’s body and sent it to Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College morgue for autopsy.
According to the remark of the OC, process to file a case was underway in this connection, while filing the report for this newspaper.
