The operation of Sirajganj Express Train is going to be resumed on November 15 after a closure for about three months.
The authorities concerned closed the movement of Sirajganj Express Train after arson attack and vandalism carried out by the unruly mobs during the Anti-discrimination Student-Public movement on August 4.
Shah Shufi Nur Mohammad, Divisional Manager of Pashchimanchal Railway (Railway West Zone) told The Daily Sky that, “Sirajganj Bazar Station and Shaheed M Monsur Ali Station, located on the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge got damaged drastically due to the arson attack and vandalism by the mobs on August 4. The renovation works of the two stations are still underway. After completion of the renovation works, we will go to resume the operation of Sirajganj Express Train, which is solo intercity train run from Sirajganj district town.”
“We hope, the repairing works for the two railway stations will be completed before November 15. Besides, the schedule of the train movement will be maintained like the previous period.”
Earlier, several programmes including rally and human chain were held in the town with the leadership of district BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu demanding to resumption of Sirajganj Express Train operation.
