Three members of the same family were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a truck in Faridpur upazila of Pabna on Tuesday. The accident occurred around 9:30am in Demra Chakchakia area, police said.

The victims were identified as Sohel Rana, 28, son of Akkas Ali from Charpara village of Chatmohar upazila; his wife Awliya Khatun, 25; and their daughter Sumaiya, 7.

Faridpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasnat Zaman confirmed the matter. He said Sohel Rana was returning home to Chatmohar with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle after visiting Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, when their bike collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

Awliya Khatun and Sumaiya died on the spot. Locals rushed critically injured Sohel to Faridpur Upazila Health Complex and later transferred him to Pabna General Hospital. Doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way around 3pm.

Police recovered the bodies and later handed them over to the family after completing legal formalities. No case has been filed in connection with the incident, OC Zaman added.
