Sports Desk:
Pakistan-Bangladesh T20I series has been rescheduled and shortened following logistical challenges and scheduling conflicts. Initially planned as a five-match series across Faisalabad and Lahore, the tour will now consist of just three T20Is—all to be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The revised plan was finalised during high-level discussions held in Dubai between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed, along with BCB’s Chairman of Cricket Operations Nazmul Abedin Fahim.
The updated fixtures and match timings are expected to be announced soon, though all games are likely to be held under lights in Lahore.
The decision was prompted by a combination of factors. Regional tensions that recently disrupted the Pakistan Super League (PSL) led to a reshuffling of Pakistan’s cricket calendar, narrowing the available window for international fixtures.
Additionally, several Bangladeshi players raised concerns about the tour’s overlap with Eid-ul-Adha festivities, prompting both boards to reconsider the scope of the series.
The series was originally part of the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP), with a format that included three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODIs were later scrapped to allow both teams more T20 match practice ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With the latest changes, the series has been further trimmed to three T20Is in a single venue to ease operational and scheduling pressures.
