Tensions have escalated between India and Pakistan after a series of retaliatory attacks. On Wednesday morning, India carried out missile strikes on Azad Kashmir and other parts of Pakistan, reportedly killing 26 people, including children.

The attack has drawn strong condemnation from popular Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan and Hania Aamir.

Mahira Khan was one of the most outspoken celebrities who retweeted a tweet from writer Fatima Bhutto. Adding her response on Instagram, she wrote, “Seriously cowardly!!! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen.”

On the other side, Hania Aamir expressed similar feelings in a brief yet sharp Instagram story, saying only, “Cowardly.”

India has taken a number of additional sanctions and punitive measures against Pakistan as a result of the heightened tensions between the two countries.

For the unversed, a number of prominent Pakistani individuals, including Aamir, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Ali Zafar, had their Instagram accounts geo-restricted in India following the April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
