People start returning to Dhaka

Despite the no ending of holidays, numerous individuals returning to Dhaka early out of fear of facing difficulties. They explained that they are traveling early to avoid the usual hardships and traffic congestion.

This scene was observed at the Koddar Morh bus terminal on the western side of the Jamuna Bridge in Sirajganj on Tuesday (June 10) around 11:00am. However, there was no significant crowd of passengers or heavy vehicle traffic heading towards Dhaka.

Passengers said, although the holiday is yet to end, they have already started heading towards Dhaka early, knowing that the crowd will increase as time goes by. On Tuesday morning, there wasn’t much passenger pressure on the buses returning to Dhaka near Koddar Morh. Travelers expressed relief as there was no traffic congestion or crowding on the roads.

The Executive Engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Site Office, Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, stated that the Eid holidays will end on June 14. Therefore, the post-Eid traffic pressure has not yet been increased. In the past 24 hours, 23,803 vehicles have crossed the bridge. A toll of Tk 149,203,000 has been collected. Among these, 12,059 vehicles have crossed the eastern toll plaza heading to northern Bengal and 11,744 vehicles have crossed the western toll plaza heading to Dhaka.
