The countrymen will once again take to the streets, as they did on 5 August if necessary, to realise their voting rights, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Monday.
“No trick over the election will be accepted,” Fakhrul said while addressing a mammoth rally held on Shibganj Degree College ground in Thakurgaon this noon.
Claiming that BNP wants to establish people’s power in the country through the election, he also called upon the people to get united to throng the streets for the greater interest of the country.
Blaming the former prime minister for her indulgence in anti-state conspiracy, Fakhrul said Sheikh Hasina is not passing her idle time staying in India but relentlessly hatching conspiracy against Bangladesh.
He also came down hard on some advisers of the interim government for their overenthusiastic remarks on the next general election and the country’s contemporary affairs.
While addressing the rally in his one electoral area, Fakhrul also expressed his resentment toward the incumbent administration for announcing the election roadmap, indicating that the next general election is likely to take place in late 2025 or early 2026.
Claiming that the fascist Awami League government fled the country in the face of the movement forged by the BNP, he said his party men have been repressed and tortured for the last 15 years and there is no scope to ignore the contribution.
