Pilot Towkir laid to eternal rest

Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam Sagar, who tragically lost his life in a fighter jet crash in Uttara of the capital, was laid to rest on Tuesday.

His namaj-e-janaza was held at 4:30pm at the Rajshahi Muktijuddho Stadium, after which he was buried at the adjacent Sapura graveyard.

Thousands of people, including senior government officials, participated in the namaj-e-janaza. Hundreds of women also gathered at the rented home, the graveyard, and the district stadium for a final glimpse of the departed pilot.

At around 2:55pm, Towkir’s body was flown to Rajshahi Cantonment by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter. Following official procedures, his body was taken by ambulance at 3:20pm to his family’s rented residence in Sector 3 of Upashahar in Rajshahi, accompanied by officers from the Army and Air Force.

Crowds of mourners gathered outside the residence, with family members visibly devastated by grief.

On Monday afternoon (21 July), Flight Lieutenant Towkir was killed when a fighter aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara. Many students from the school were also killed or injured in the tragic incident.
