TDS Desk:

Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is set to visit Bogura on Monday on a day-long tour.

During his first visit to the district after assuming office, he is scheduled to attend several programs, including the inauguration of Bogura City Corporation and a public rally organised by the district BNP.

Authorities say all preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth and secure visit. A festive mood has been reported among leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, with key areas undergoing renovation and cleaning ahead of the visit.

According to the official schedule signed by the prime minister’s Protocol Officer-1 Md Ujjal Hossain, Tarique Rahman will leave his Gulshan residence at 6am and is expected to reach Bogura Circuit House at 10:30am.

He is scheduled to unveil the plaque of the new building of the District Bar Association at 11am, followed by the inauguration of the e-bail bond system at the judge’s court at 11:15am.

At 11:30am, he will inaugurate Bogura City Corporation at the Bogura Municipality. Later in the day, he will launch the measles vaccination campaign at Ziaur Rahman Village Hospital in Bagbari, distribute family cards at Shaheed Zia College grounds, and inaugurate a canal excavation project in Nashipur.

He is expected to visit his ancestral residence at around 2:30pm before returning to the Circuit House at 3:30pm.

At 4:00pm, the prime minister will attend a public rally at Altafunnesa Playground in the city.

Later, he will inaugurate the new building of Bogura Press Club and the reconstruction work of Baitur Rahman Central Mosque.

After completing the day’s activities, he will depart for Dhaka in the evening, with a brief stop at the Bogura Rural Development Academy.

Earlier, on April 15, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam and the prime minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon briefed journalists at Bogura Circuit House about the visit. They also inspected several program locations, including Altafunnesa Playground.

Residents say the visit—his first to Bogura in nearly two decades—has created widespread excitement across the district. Roads and public facilities have been renovated, and major venues, including Altafunnesa Playground and Baitur Rahman Central Mosque, have been refurbished.

Bogura-7 MP Morshed Milton said the visit holds special significance for locals.

“He is returning to his ancestral home as the prime minister after nearly two decades. This is not just a political event, but an emotional moment for the people here,” he said.
