The artiste to comeback with the film after four year

Popular film actor Popy, who has been absent from the media, well as all public appearance since 2020, will be seen in theatres soon. The three-time National Film Awards-wining artiste’s   movie “Direct Action” will be released in cinemas on 23 July.

Director of the movie, Sadek Siddique, has confirmed the news to the media recently. He said, “It is final that the film ‘Direct Action’ will be released in theatres on 23 July. We have already got clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. Initially, I planned to promote the film with Popy, but it is not possible at that time. Because I don’t know where is Popy. So, I decided to start campaign for the movie on my own way.”

Popy has played a police officer in the movie “Direct Action”. Actor Amin Khan will be seen in the project opposite her. Actors Mamnun Emon, Abhi and Shirin Shila have also played three important roles in the film.

It mentioned that, Popy was last seen in the film “The Director” in 2019.

Popy has been absent from media since December 2020. Her current whereabouts are a mystery. It may be mentioned that, Popy made a brief reappearance, not in person, but through a video message on 26 January 2022. This five-minute and 34-second long message was posted on Facebook during the Film Artistes’ Association election.

In the live video, she urged her fans to vote for the panel of Ilias Kanchan and Nipun in that year’s Film Artistes Association election held on 28 January.

She said, “Ilias Kanchan bhai is one of the most senior actors as well as respected artiste, who deserves your vote. Besides, Nipun, Riaz, and Ferdous are my good friends.”

“Former panel (Misha-Zayed) wanted to cancel my membership in Film Artistes’ Association. I was hurt and humiliated; this is why I was away from everything. I will open up more about this later,” said the three-time National Award-winning actor in the posted video.

Earlier on 23 December 2020, Popy wrote “I saw you in my dreams, a light of love amidst the darkness” on Facebook. That was her last Facebook post.

Sadika Parvin Popy is a popular film actress and model of the country. She started her career    in the film industry with the film “Coolie” directed by Montazur Rahman Akbar in 1997.

She also starred in many popular films including “Amar Ghor Amar Behesht”, “Lal Badsha”   “Karagar”, “Megher Koley Roud” and “Gangajatra”.
