‘Positive mindset’ helps Shamim shine against Windies in T20I series

Bangladesh’s Shamim Hossain said on Wednesday that he was confident to do well against West Indies as he performed well in the High Performance Unit and Emerging team ahead of the series.
Bangladesh clinched the three-match T20I series by taking a 2-0 lead on the back of clinical performance by the bowlers along with Shamim’s knock of unbeaten 35 runs that lifted Bangladesh to a competitive total.
“I always think that however situation the team is in, if I play well, we’ll reach a decent total. I always have the positive thinking,” Shamim, who was adjudged man of the match, told reporters after the game at St Kitts on Wednesday.
“I played well in HP, emerging team and wherever I played and that’s why I was confident of doing well,” he said.
“Happy that I could play well, my family and the country are happy too,” he said.
“We won T20 series in West Indies and that’s a huge achievement,” he said adding that he is not interested to lose his sleep as he was out of national team for the last one year.
“I don’t think that much (when I will make a comeback when I was away from the team) and I just tried to keep a positive mindset and stay happy,” he said.
“I was confident I would make a comeback,” he said adding that he also don’t wanted lose his sleep for not getting a chance in the T20I World Cup.
“What’s gone is gone. (T20 WC),” he said adding that he is currently working on his fitness and batting.
“This is just the beginning. I have a long way to go. Let’s see,” he said.
“I’m currently working on my fitness and working on my batting as well,” he concluded.
