After the fall of the Awami League government, the price of sugar decreased in the country. Where sugar was sold earlier at Tk 135 at the retail level, now it is being sold at Tk 125 to Tk 127. That is, the prices of sugar have reduced from Tk 8 to Tk 10 per kg.
Similarly, the price of sugar has decreased in the wholesale market as well, confirmed Md. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, joint secretary of Bangladesh Sugar Dealers Association.
Md. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury told the media that at present, sugar is being sold at Tk 118 to Tk 120 per kg according to the company in the wholesale market of Chattogram. Sugar prices have fallen since August 5. Earlier, wholesale sugar was sold from Tk 122 to Tk 125 per kg.
On the other hand, sugar, sold by the government, is being sold at the millgate at Tk 125. This price has remained the same for a long time. However, the price of sugar in the international market has reduced as well. As per that, the price of sugar in the country should be further reduced.
