Paris Saint-Germain have finally got their man as the Ligue 1 giants announced the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli on Friday, January 17. The Georgian forward has joined the club on a deal until 2029.
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli on Friday, January 17 in a big money move during the winter transfer window. While neither team disclosed the financial details of the deal, media reports are suggesting that the Georgian forward has been signed for a fee of 70 million euros plus add-ons.
Kvaratskhelia arrives in the French capital after having failed to reach an agreement with Napoli over extending his contract, which was due to end in 2027. The Georgian forward went on to put in a transfer request last week, asking for a move from the current Serie A toppers. Kvaratskhelia has signed a deal with PSG until 2029.
The Ligue 1 giants made the announcement with a statement on their website about the signing of the forward, who will be the first Georgian player in the history of PSG. They also revealed that Kvaratskhelia will wear the No.7 jersey at the club.
“PSG are delighted to announce the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia,” the Parisian club said in a statement.
“The 23-year-old winger, who will wear the number 7 shirt, will become the first Georgian player in the club’s history.”
WHAT KVARATSKHELIA SAID ABOUT HIS MOVE
Kvaratskhelia opened up about his move to PSG and said it was a dream to make the move to the Ligue 1 giants. The 23-year-old said he feels immense pride in joining the side and was eager to get going with his new side.
“It’s a dream to be here. I’ve heard a lot of very positive things about Paris Saint-Germain. I feel immense pride in joining this great club and I’m really looking forward to wearing my new colours”, said Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaratskhelia burst on to the scene in Europe with his fantastic debut season for Napoli in 2022, when he helped them win their first Serie A title in 33 years. The 23-year-old has scored 5 goals and got 3 assists to his name in 19 appearances across all competitions during the first half of the ongoing campaign.
PSG are currently 7 points clear of Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
