The house of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader in Companiganj, Noakhali, has been attacked, vandalized, and set on fire by protesters from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and local residents.
The incident took place in Basurhat municipality around 1pm on Thursday, where a two-story house, a tin-shed structure, and a kitchen belonging to Obaidul Quader’s younger brother, Abdul Quader Mirza, were extensively damaged.
Witnesses said that a water tank in front of the house and an abandoned car were torched.
Ariful Islam, Noakhali district coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said: “This is the consequence of Awami League’s misrule and Obaidul Quader’s actions.”
Acts of vandalism were still ongoing in the area.
