RAB detains 2 drug traders with 21kg hemp in Sirajganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 forces in a drive recovered 21 kg of hemp and detained two drug traders from Hatikumrul area on the Dhaka-Bogura highway near New Life Hospital in Sirajganj district early Monday.

The detained are: private car driver Rashidul Islam, 30, son of Sontu Mian and Firoj Mian, 22, son of Jonab Ali, both hailed from Nabinagor village in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

M Abul Hashem Sabuj, Sadar Company Commander of RAB-12 confirmed the matter to the media on Monday noon through a press briefing.

A team of RAB-12 Sadar Company with the assistance of its intelligence unit and directive of Commander Maruf Hossain conducted a drive at Hatikumrul area, also vicinity of New Life Hospital on the Dhaka-Bogura highway early Monday at around 3:05am, the press release revealed.

During the drive, the RAB forces recovered 21 kg of hemp and detained 2 persons in this connection. The RAB also seized the private car used in transporting the drugs.

The detainees were also handed over to the Solongga thana police and a case was lodged with the PS in this connection.
