A cleaner of Rabindra University drowned after a boat along with some passengers capsized in the Chinadhukuria Beel in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district on Wednesday noon.

The victim was identified as Monirul Islam, 35, son of Abdus Salam of Brojobala village in the upazila and also a cleaner of the Rabindra University.

Locals said, Monirul and his seven-year old son Masum were going to a rice mill with an engine boat. On the way, their boat fell into storm and capsized in the Beel. Though, other passengers of the boat swam to ashore, the victim drowned in the water.
